Ron Paul detractors - who do you support?

As Ron Pauls popularity has been increasing, so of course are those against him waking up that he is the leader in the republican primaries at this point by the majority of ways to measure, and has recently shown up as the biggest chance to win against a democrat in the latest Zogby blind poll.

Over the course of these hit pieces, I have noticed one common factor among all of them. I never see anyone offered up in response as a better candidate than Ron Paul. The current hit pieces have the theme of "libertarians are leaving Ron Paul". Which I personally find very curious.

Rarely do these articles talk about issues. They all have one major goal in mind, character assassination. Which in my opinion, only goes to point out that this election really is Ron Paul vs the status quo.

Because of course, when you compare Ron Paul, side by side to any other politician running, these so called claims made just don't hold water. As if because you don't agree with him 100%, you suddenly can't vote for him. Obviously there is likely no candidate you can find you agree with 100%.

If you can show me someone I'd rather vote for than Ron Paul, then I'm am all ears. Please, show me the candidate I agree with more, has an established voting record backing it up, has consistent values and can explain their position in detail, and has taken up the fight to returning our foreign policy to what it should be.

Where is this candidate who understands the constitution so much better than Ron Paul? Who is it that doesn't need lawyers to decide for him, and understands that domestic issues on the whole, belong on the state level. Which other candidate understands that the general welfare is defined in the preamble of the constitution as the amendments themselves, and the general welfare clause is what gives congress the power to uphold those amendments.

Because I must say, I have spent the last 7 years looking for this candidate after it was clear GWB wasn't going to hold up to his promises. I had all but given up hope, and Ron Paul, and more importantly, the support he has gotten, has renewed my hope for this country.

So how is it all you that post articles that don't like Ron Paul actually support? And why if you feel so passionate about that candidate, you never mention it? Just because the major media likes to tell you the American people are stupid, doesn't mean it's true. We aren't that dumb, sorry.

Ron Paul, like most "libertarians" is a wingnut!
If you want to privatize every government program (i.e., Halliburton and Blackwater ??), including the most successfull social program in history (Social Security), then vote for Ron Paul.
If you want to vote for a REAL progressive who wants to end the war and defend the working class against the corporate rich, vote for Dennis Kucinich

If you are so smart and able to make such decisions, then why do you need to give away your personal control and choice over the issues?

Dennis isn't a bad guy, he's the best the democrats have, no doubt about it. If I had to vote for a democrats, it'd be him. But he still wants 1 big program for everyone, rather than many different programs to fit everyone.

Trying to have 1 size fits all social programs is like trying to make John Goodman wear Stephen Colberts clothes for the purpose of making him thinner. It doesn't work, it's called fat guy in a little a little coat, and it's a classic.

The only thing Ron Paul has said on social programs is that it isn't the federal governments job, and if you read this blog you'll see me pointing out why.

I mean honestly, you are asking lawyers to provide you with the best healthcare, education etc. You don't think thats a bit dumb?

Lawyers? Lawyers have nothing to do with national healthcare. I want a single-payer PUBLIC/GOVERNMENT program to provide for the "common welfare" as the constitution demands, not private insurance companies who PROFIT from denying healthcare to people. There should be NO private healthcare companies profiting from denying healthcare. Every other industrial democracy does it.
HEALTHCARE FOR ALL, not just those who can AFFORD it (the Libertarian plan)

You should read my posts from july. You are referring to the general welfare clause. The general welfare the constitution tells congress to provide are the general amendments themselves. This is made clear in the preamble, which states part of the purpose of the constitution is to promote the general welfare.

The amendments - which can be added to is how you define the general welfare. As I posted on that discussion, you would need to add it as an amendment to do so the right way.

You are using a loophole in your translation of the constituion, that anything that can be spun to being for the good is congresses job. It's just not what it meant, sorry. I did point out what you needed to do in that article to make it ok, and so that it doesn't use loopholes that lead to corruption.

You've got good intentions, and thats what everyone needs to remember. In our hearts, the majority of us want what is best. We disagree on how to get there. But to warp things and say that libertarians only want to give healthcare to those who can avoid is spin and not helping anything. The truth is, libertarians want to make it so that everyone can afford their own healthcare, in a market that allows competition and personal choice.

Read my July posts in this blog, and then tell me you still feel the same way. It's not that libertarians support big corporations, it's not true. Libertarians support smaller private businesses, and the regulations big corporations use with lobbyists to put the competition(aka the little guy) down.

Even in your original post, you mention Haliburton. As if to say I like them. Couldn't be further from the truth. That is not an example of free markets, that is an example of government giving private contracts to private companies. So let me ask you - who do expect to provide the healthcare? Don't you realize it will be companies like Haliburtion who get them? That is exactly why I am in favor of free markets.

No chance Jim am I going to let you post that crap here. This is a comments section for the article, not a place for you to spam links on other issues.

For the record, he is posting links to the new republics racism hit piece, basically copy and pasting some big long spill.

And btw, I had planned on donating a bit of cash to Dennis today due to him standing up for the NH recount, but I dunno now. I probably will anyway, just because I'm smart enough to realize you aren't him, but you can take your hate crap elsewhere.
